Kraft announced recall of improperly stored cottage cheese

Kraft Food Group is voluntarily recalling 1.2 million packs of cottage cheese products as a precautionary measure after discovering the products were not stored in compliance with the company’s standards, according to Food Safety News on May 18.

The company announced it is recalling Breakstone, Daily Chef, Knudsen, and Simply Kraft cottage cheese packs–the labels that were stored at the company’s plant in Tulare, CA. Although no illnesses have been reported, Kraft Food Group said it is initiating the recall for fear of spoilage and food-borne diseases.

Affected packages contain code dates of May 9 to July 23, 2014. Recalled Simply Kraft labels have a plant code 06-245, and carry code dates that do not contain any ‘W.’
