Overview

Kevin G. Healy is a founding member of the Morris James personal injury practice, with over 35 years of experience in the area of personal injury litigation. Kevin takes great pride in counseling his clients through a claims process that can be very frustrating, bewildering and harsh. Restoring integrity to the personal injury claims process, and maintaining an even playing field for his clients, are key components to Kevin’s approach to each and every case. This approach is critical to achieving a fair and reasonable outcome for our clients.

Born and raised in Delaware, Kevin was part of a family of builders. Following family tradition, from an early age, he worked as a laborer and carpenter on many construction sites including churches, schools, hospitals and other commercial buildings. Memorable projects included the A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital, the Capitol building in Dover, and the Milford Memorial Hospital.

As a high school student at Archmere Academy, Kevin played football all four years, captaining the team his senior year. Off the gridiron, as a participant in the Voice of Democracy speech contest,  he wrote and recorded a speech garnering 2nd place honors for the State of Delaware.  After graduating from Archmere in 1976 he commenced his college studies at Boston College in the fall where he majored in political science.

In the summer of 1979, Kevin’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to set up shop in Stone Harbor, New Jersey as “Kacy’s”, featuring homemade Italian water ice. Challenged by the gas crisis of 1979, the astronomical rise in the price of lemons, and a cycle of bad weather weekends, Kacy’s survived but did not prosper. Facing the need to repay business loans, Kevin placed college on hold and instead worked full-time in his family’s construction business as a carpenter.

A year’s sabbatical from college in the “real world” of full-time work, along with a five-week journey to Ireland to meet family and trace the Healy roots, proved to be a tremendous growth experience. Kevin went on to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at the University of Delaware. While at University of Delaware, he minored in Music and met the love of his life, Marian Johnson, a soprano extraordinaire.

Upon graduation he went to work full-time in the family construction business as a project manager. At the same time the vision of becoming a lawyer was growing stronger and stronger, as was the desire to be married to Marian. Kevin’s proposal to Marian: “marry me; I will continue to work full time while earning a law degree at Delaware Law School.” Much to his surprise and delight, Marian accepted.  They are the proud parents of Molly and Emma and have enjoyed wedded bliss for nearly 40 years.

When Kevin’s not at work, he can be found supporting Marian’s voice studio business, enjoying the Jersey Shore, traveling to Boston to visit Molly and her husband Mike, and talking shop with Emma, who is now a practicing attorney in Pennsylvania. The empty nest is made a little less empty in that it is filled with Marian’s voice students throughout the week. Also, from November through February each year Kevin is honored to be a coach of the Archmere Academy high school mock trial team, and connect with an inspiring group of young adults. The high school mock trial program has convinced Kevin that the legal profession in Delaware will be in good hands for many years to come.

Both Kevin and Marian are avid spectators of most sports, and especially enjoy attending Phillies and Flyers games. Golf has become a passion for Kevin in recent years, and walking the course is a favorite form of exercise. Errant golf shots provide Kevin plenty of exercise.
